عملیات اکوتوریسم گاهی اوقات به ایده آل های حفاظتی نمی رسد. گاهی اوقات نادیده گرفته می شود که اکوتوریسم یک فعالیت بسیار مصرف کننده محور است و حفظ محیط زیست وسیله ای برای رشد بیشتر اقتصادی است. اکوتوریسم نیز از طریق ارزشی که برای گونه ها قائل می شود، بر روی آنها تأثیر می گذارد. برخی از گونهها از کمشناختی یا ارزشگذاری کمی توسط مردم محلی به کالاهایی با ارزش تبدیل شدهاند. کالایی شدن گیاهان ممکن است ارزش اجتماعی آنها را از بین ببرد و منجر به تولید بیش از حد در مناطق حفاظت شده شود. مردم محلی و تصاویر آنها را نیز می توان به کالا تبدیل کرد.
گردشگری اکوتوریسم یک مدل گردشگری که در آن محافظت از محیط زیست جزو اهداف اصلی این گردشگری . معمولا گردشگری اگر محافظت شده نباشد ممکن است به بافت طبیعت و گیاهان آسیب برسد با ریختن زباله های گردشگان و یا روشن کردن آتش در جنگل و از بین بردن بافت گیاهی که موجب ضررهای قابل جبرانی برای طبیعت خواهد بود . این موضوع محافظت از محیط زیست اکنون خیلی مورد توجه قرار گرفته است.
متاسفانه تا وقتی شهرداری زباله های شهر های شمال را در جنگلها خالی میکنند و فاضلاب کارخانجات بداخل دریای شمال تخلیه میشود و عملیات بدتر در شهرهای دیگر مسافران هم خق خود میدانند زباله ها و اشغال ها و بطری های نوشابه خود را به داخل جنگل و دریا پرتاب کنند و یا پوسته میوه های خود و سایر آشغال ها را را در جاده از شیشه اتومبیل بیرون بیاندازند و از این کارها لذت وافر ببرند ماشینهای سیگاریها با کمال افتخار کنار خیابان میایستند و زیر سیگاری مملو از ته سیگارهای سمی را در جوی کنار خیابان تخلیه میکنند واقعا زمین حق دارد زیر پای ساکنانش ناله کند
این ها فقط بهانه است هر کس به اندازه خود وظیفه ای نسبت به پیرامون و محیط خود دارد همه نسبت به محیط اطراف خود مسئول هستند ما یاد گرفتیم همه کاستی و اشتباهات رو منوط به دیگری کنیم، محیط زیست و تفرجگاه ها رو با زباله آلوده کردن یعنی روی زندگی خودمان تاثیر گذاشتن همه این آلودگی ها برمیگرده به خود ما همه باید از خودشان شروع نکنند نه کم و کاستی و اشتباهات رو پر رنگ کنند با این آلودگی من و ما، دیگه فردا روزی شمالی نخواهد بود!!! که آن وقت دیر است
